The following is a posted review of Superior Peril on Amazon
by a reader known as YooperCool: “An excellent read. Carrier is spot on for
keeping up suspense. I could not put this book down until I finished it. Jack
and Kate cover all the bases for crime solving and it’s evident that big things
are in store for Red. As a resident of the Eastern Upper Peninsula it’s hard
not to feel like I'm inside this book. I'd love to see Jack and Kate team up
with Heywood's Grady Service on a case. Can't wait for
the next one!”
As the author of Superior Peril I find YooperCool's review
to reflect exactly what I seek to accomplish. That is to make readers feel like
they are living in the pages of my books. I received an email a short time ago
from a person who owns a cottage in the UP and this is part of what he wrote:
"Hello Michael. My name is Patrick K. Les from the Island Bookstore in the
Soo has been getting me your books. Let me tell you first off I have never been
a book reader. I couldn't find the time or see the point in reading about stuff
that wasn't factual. But I have to say I love your three books-great work. Now
the fact that I've been going to Sugar Island all my life (56 years) made me
read the Murder on Sugar Island book. After reading it I couldn't wait to get
your first book. I just received the third one Monday and with working two
16-hour days this week I still managed to read it. PLEASE make sure I get a
copy of the next one. I can't wait. ... Anyway just wanted to say thanks for
writing these books. I hope Jack and Kate might find the rest of the gold from
the first book. I have a hunch it's in Florida. ... I read the part to my wife
about when Kate was at the cottage [near Newberry] with the weathered cedar
siding, the wood stove in the corner and the 70's paneling-she said now she
knows who broke into our cottage a couple years back! We had a good
laugh." All I can say to YooperCool and Patrick is this-as long as I can
please genuine people such as you, I will keep writing. Thanks much for the
kind words. –Michael Carrier
